Frequently Asked Questions

Can we hear samples of your music?

Yes, check out the Ceremony and Reception demos to the right and listen to samples from Lisa's album "Hearth" and some other tracks. These feature Lisa and some of our associate artists.

Can we hear you sing live?

Yes, you can make an appointment with Lisa to talk about your ideas for your wedding music, ask lots of questions and hear Lisa sing. Of course there is no obligation!

"The Hum" also welcomes prospective clients to listen to them sing on a Monday evening at their rehearsal venue. You can enquire about these through emailing Lisa at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Can we choose whatever songs we like?

For ceremonies, we put together an ensemble and rehearse especially for your wedding. This means that you don't have to chose songs from our songlists, and we can learn nearly any song you like. However, there may be limitations on what is possible with certain bands etc... For example, Ave Maria with guitar and voice may not give the traditional feel you are after, nor would it work to do "I'm Yours" with organ and voice. We suggest that you pick your songs first and then we can suggest the best ensemble to fit in with your songs and budget.

For receptions, you are welcome to highlight your favourites from our songlists, or tell us the songs you would rather us avoid. If you have a special song in mind for your first dance, we can organise for the original track to be played on CD or more often than not, we can arrange for the band to learn it.

Can we chose love songs for our Church Wedding?

For most Church services there is room for a combination of hymns or sacred music and love songs. It is important to discuss the particular traditions of the Church you will be marrying in with your celebrant, but as a general rule, either love songs or hymns can be used at the Entance, Exit and Signing of the Register. If your service is a Mass or Eucharist, it is important to accompany the sacred moments of the service with appropriate music. There are beautiful hymns that work really well for weddings. Just ask Lisa for some examples.

Can you provide an MC for our reception?

There are 3 options here:

  • You can ask a friend or relative to MC the speeches and we will MC all the formalities at no charge.
  • We can provide a simple MC service for an extra fee.
  • We can book our favourite MC, Shar Muys for you. Shar offers a wonderful service where she meets or chats with members of the bridal party, gets to know you a little better and MCs the full evening. We think Shar is Australia and NZ's answer to Ellen de Generes. (Lisa: Shar MC'd our wedding and guests were still talking about her for months to come!)

Can you provide music for set breaks at our reception?

Yes, certainly. Just let us know if you have anything particular in mind.

Can we provide our own music for set breaks at out reception?

Yes, certainly. We'll just need to know what format the music will be in. (CD/mp3s etc)
